Extend User Sessions In Oracle Application Express

Brandon Mack October 20, 2015 0 Comments

A Little Background

A few years back we built an application in Oracle‘s Application Express for Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation. This application would take in information from applicants allowing them to give out grant funding every year. Recently, a few applicants mentioned that if they stepped away from their computer for some time and came back to finish the application they would be logged out. If they hadn’t submitted the current information, it wouldn’t be saved.

Extending Maximum Session Length

  1. Login to your Application Express Workspace
  2. Click on Application Builder
  3. Select your application
  4. Select Shared Components
  5. Under Security click on Security Attributes
  6. Under Session Timeout change Maximum Session Length in Seconds

Extending Maximum Session Idle Time

  1. Login to your Application Express Workspace
  2. Click on Application Builder
  3. Select your application
  4. Select Shared Components
  5. Under Security click on Security Attributes
  6. Under Session Timeout change Maximum Session Idle Time in Seconds

If you change Maximum Session Idle Time in Seconds to 0 it prevents session idle checks from being performed.
