Why it has taken so long… I have no idea. It seems like a fairly simple concept. Twitter has had the capability forever now. But alas, finally, it’s here. You can now sign in to multiple accounts simultaneously on Instagram! No more signing our and then signing in with a separate account… and then signing out… and then signing in. No more signing out of an account and then receiving notification from the account you’re no longer signed into. Well, that might still happen, but it’s intentional this time around.
This especially comes in handy for anyone managing multiple accounts for clients, or switching between a personal account and a business account. Or… between a personal account and an account for your cute, fluffy, little puppy dog (which I fully support).
So, how do you get this done you ask? Well, let me tell you.
Instagram on iOS
First, sign in to your first Instagram account.
Click on the Settings gear icon under your profile.
Close to the bottom, click on Add Account.
Sign in with your second account.
Now, in the bottom right corner there should be your profile picture. This will indicate which account is currently active.
To switch accounts, press and hold on this profile picture. You should get a list of all the accounts you have signed in.
Instagram on Android
First, sign in to your first Instagram account.
Click on the Settings gear icon under your profile.
Close to the bottom, click on Add Account.
Sign in with your second account.
Now, in the top left corner there should be a selector menu. This will indicate which account is currently active.
To switch accounts, use this selector menu. You should get a list of all the accounts you have signed in.
Notifications
Now with multiple accounts signed in how will you see the notifications? Pretty much as you would expect. Every notification is prefixed with [accountname]: somebody liked your photo.
Enjoy!
Voila! If you’re anyone who has multiple accounts for any reason at all, you can now easily switch back and forth! Happy posting!
