A while back we wrote an article about Snapchat’s snapcodes and how they work. It looks like they snuck a little more functionality in when no one was looking. You can now create a snapcode that redirects to any URL of your choosing.
You can find our previous article on snapcodes here: How Do Snapchat’s Snapcodes Work?
Custom Snapcodes That Open Any Website URL You Choose
If you have ever used QR codes when they first came out you are probably familiar with the concept. Instead of having to write out a long URL… and maybe accidentally mistype something… and then maybe get frustrated because you can’t get to where you want to go… and then maybe give up completely… you can just snap a photo and it would take you directly where you need to go. Super easy, right?! Well, now you can do that with Snapchat as well.
- Go to your Snapchat Settings
- Click on Snapcodes
- Click on Create Snapcode
- In the text box it provides type out the URL that you would like users redirected to
- Click on Create
Now when you take a look under your Settings for Snapcodes and click on My Snapcodes you will see the new one you just created. If you click on it, you have the option to save it to your Camera Roll, which will give you something like what you see below. You can also edit it to put a photo in the ghost section of the snapcode by click on that section. So, you do get a little but of personalization to it as well. It’s not just massive Snapchat branding that links to somewhere you specify in the back.
Now if someone uses Snapchat to scan the code it will take them to whatever website URL you provided! Give it a try with the snapcode above (which should take you to the base URL of our website). Pretty easy and pretty handy. Especially if you are using Snapchat as a social media outlet for your business.
